What is the Best Time to Visit Sri Lanka?

The best time of the year to visit Sri Lanka embark on sightseeing, hill country escapes, wildlife adventures and beach relaxing is from December through April.

Sri Lanka also has two monsoon seasons that impact different parts at different times, so the itinerary can be customized with the right planning.

Itinerary

Arrival in Sri Lanka - Transfer to Sigiriya

On arrival, you will be met and welcomed by our representative at Colombo International Airport. Drive off to Kandy.

En route,  visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and see how adult and baby elephants interact with each other in their natural habitat. You may even get the opportunity to feed baby elephants.

Then proceed to Sigiriya and climb the famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress - a palace on top of the rock from an antiquity with frescos on its walls and mirror wall, with a beautiful panoramic view at the summit. Overnight in Sigiriya 

Sigiriya to Kandy

After breakfast leave for Kandy with amazing visits enroute. Then experience a visit to a Spice Garden and discover the wonders of Sri Lankan spices, how they are grown and processed.

After, visit the lovely Peradeniya Botanical Gardens which boast a variety of plant and tree species and serene paths where you can take tons of postcard-worthy pictures. In Kandy, make a stop at Gem Museum learn about Sri Lanka’s gem history and see some rare ones.

In the evening, entertain yourselves with a Kandyan Cultural Show followed by a visit the Temple of Tooth Relic. If there is time, stroll around Kandy Lake in the early evening and soak up the sunset before heading back to your hotel.

Kandy – Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast start drive to Nuwara Eliya with some beautiful stop overs. Hike up the renowned Ambuluwawa Tower for some adventure and a beautiful 360-degree scenic view from the top.

Drive across rolling terrain that is carpeted with tea bushes. Enjoy a fresh brew at a tea plantation as you observe the process of tea making in action.

At Nuwara Eliya, some of the places will visit are storied Seetha Amman Temple which is famous for its association with the Ramayana tale as well as picturesque views that surround.

Next, take a walk in Hakgala Botanical Garden, serene in nature and ideal for relaxation. Relax at the end of your day at Gregory Park, whether by boat ride or fun activities.

Nuwara Eliya to Ella

Wake up to the cool, misty morning in the hill country. After breakfast check out. Travel to Ella and when you are in the area, make a stop at the renowned Nine Arch Bridge or “Bridge in the Sky”, an impeccable architectural feat nestled between emerald hills and tea plantations. If you can time it right, catching a train crossing the bridge is magic.

In the evening, experience something unique at Rawana Pool Club, which has pleasant scenery of Little Adam’s Peak and Ella Rock to wake up to.

Ella to Bentota

Face off the chill of the hill country as you travel from hill to coast after breakfast. Enroute, experience a picturesque Boat Ride on the Madu River as you drifts through the mangroves and tranquil natural settings.

On arrival at Bentota, continue the fun with optional water sports such as jet skiing, banana boat rides and windsurfing on the Bentota River.

Later, make your way to the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery where you’ll hear about turtle conservation and have the chance to see adult and/or baby turtles. Finish with some leisurely beach time on Bentota’s golden sands.

Bentota to Colombo

Drive to Colombo after breakfast. When you arrive, explore the stunning Gangaramaya Temple, a place of Buddhist worship that is rich cultural significance and architectural beauty.

Then walk over to Independence Square, another preserved sentimental site where the walking paths are groomed and the air is serene. Later, shop in a famous mall and if you wish to find more affordable souvenirs, you can also visit some local market.

Wrap up your evening at Galle Face Green, a bustling oceanfront location popular for its street food and relaxed atmosphere. Finally, head up the Lotus Tower for an amazing 360 degree view of Colombo city a great way to end 6 days holiday in Sri Lanka before you leave for the airport.
